Partho Ghosh Passes Away: '100 Days' And 'Agni Sakshi' Director Dies At 75 In Mumbai After Heart-Related Complications
Indian filmmaker Partho Ghosh, known for directing hits like 100 Days and Agni Sakshi, passed away in Mumbai on Monday morning at the age of 75, succumbing to heart-related issues. He resided in the Madh Island area of the city and is survived by his wife, Gouri Ghosh.

Actress Rituparna Sengupta expressed her grief, saying she is “heartbroken beyond words.” In her tribute, she added, “We have lost an exceptional talent, a visionary director, and a kind soul. Partho da, you will always be remembered for the magic you created on screen. Rest in peace.”

Ghosh began his career in Hindi cinema in 1985, working as an assistant director on smaller films before making his directorial breakthrough. His first major hit came in 1991 with 100 Days, starring Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit, Moon Moon Sen, and Javed Jaffrey. The mystery thriller focused on a woman with extrasensory perception and was a remake of the Tamil film Nooravathu Naal, which itself drew inspiration from the Italian thriller Sette note in nero.

In 1992, he directed the romantic drama Geet, featuring Avinash Wadhawan and Divya Bharti. Ghosh went on to helm Dalaal in 1993, adapted from a story by Kaushal Bharati and starring Mithun Chakraborty, Ayesha Jhulka, Raj Babbar, Tinnu Anand, Shakti Kapoor, Ravi Behl, and others. It became one of the top-grossing films of that year.
His 1996 film Agni Sakshi, a thriller drama with Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and Manisha Koirala, also enjoyed box-office success. By 2015, Ghosh had written and directed over 15 films. Another noted film was Tisra Kaun, a remake of the Malayalam movie No.20 Madras Mail, starring Mithun Chakraborty.

In 2010, he directed Ek Second... Jo Zindagi Badal De? and Rehmat Ali. His final directorial effort was the 2018 romantic drama Mausam Ikrar Ke Do Pal Pyaar Ke, featuring Mukesh J Bharti, Madalsa Sharma, and Avinash Wadhawan.
